Summary
Licensed therapists will provide outpatient mental health services to children, adults, and families or groups regarding psychological or emotional problems such as adjustment to illness and pain, domestic violence, post traumatic stress and anxiety, mood disorders, psychosis, attention deficit, or family situations. Therapists will provide psychotherapy to clients both on an individual, family and group basis and are responsible for client care and treatment. The licensed therapist will provide culturally sensitive mental health services to clients by performing the following duties:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Observes, performs diagnostic interviews and evaluates clients referred for psychological, emotional or behavioral health problems.
- Sets objectives and goals for treatment and develops treatment plan in conjunction with the Medical Director.
- Implements and monitors treatment plans.
- Provides individual or group treatment, such as psychotherapy, supportive therapy or crisis intervention on a long-term or short-term basis.
- Consults with family, community and external health agencies to obtain information and to coordinate therapy and to help patients utilize resources of agencies.
- Maintains patients’ records according to COMAR and agency’s standards.
- Participate in treatment planning and mandatory staff meetings.
- Coordinates services with referring agencies
Qualifications, Education, and Experience
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or an acceptable related field required.
- Licensed in Maryland
- Psychotherapy experience in a clinic setting preferred
- Licensed therapists need to pass a background check including fingerprinting in accordance with Title 5, Subtitle 5 Part VI of the Family Law Article of Maryland Code.
